Prof. Peter JURČI has been affiliated with Department of Material Science at the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava, Slovak University of Technology, as a professor. Graduated at the same Faculty in 1991, PhD thesis successfully defended in 1997, professor at the Czech Technical University, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 2010.

At the METAL´24 conference Prof. Peter Jurči will present the plenary lecture: High-alloyed Ledeburitic Cold Work Tool Steels.

Professional career:

1991 – 1993 assistant professor at the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava.

1993 – 1997 research scientist, head of the Heat Treatment Laboratory at the National Institute for Material Research, Prague, Czech Republic

1998 – 2007 senior research scientist, head of the Research and Development Department at the Ecosond, LtD., Prague, Czech Republic

2003 – 2011 Department of Materials, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague (2003 – 2006 assistant professor, 2006 – 2010 associated professor, since 2010 professor

2011 up to now - Department of Material Science at the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology  in Trnava, Slovak University of Technology

 

Author of 103 papers registered by the Web of Science, 260 conference papers presented at national or international conferences in Czech Republic and abroad, one scientific monography, one chapter in international scientific monography Encyclopedia of Iron and Steels. Vice-president of the Association of Heat Treatment of Metals, one of leading persons in heat treatment of ferrous alloys in Europe.

Member of Editorial board of journals “Materials and Technology – Materiali in Tehnologije”, “Defect and Diffusion Forum”, “Materials”.

Fields of professional activity: Rapid solidification techniques, Heat Treatment of ferrous alloys, Nitriding, Distortion Engineering, Physical Vapour Deposition, Tool steels, Scanning electron Microscopy, Fractography.
